The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture said during a meeting on 10 October in Taiyuan, northern China, the peasants of 100 000 households pilot spread over 100 districts of China could benefit from training in science and technology in the field of agriculture, beginning next year.

The deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ministrers Chinese Agriculture Chen Fengxiu, recalled that currently only less than 5% of farmers had received an actual term vocational education in the agriculture. Mr. Chen then added that the Agriculture Department would send experts to the countryside to teach the techniques to some “home-key peasants” who subsequently become foci pilot. They could therefore play a leading role to other farmers by helping them raise their production and management in order to promote Chinese agriculture and rural economy.
