China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) signed here Thursday an agreement on exchanges between young people that the government of the ROK annually invite 500 young Chinese to visit the ROK from 2004 to 2006.

The agreement, aimed at strengthening understanding and friendship between youth of both countries and promote bilateral friendly relations, is part of the implementation of the consensus represented in the joint statement issued during the visit China’s President of the ROK Roh Moo-hyun last year.

According to organizers, the National Federation of Youth of China (FNJC) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the RC, this agreement will be valid for 3 years, which could have an automatic extension of other three years if there were no objections.

Jiang Guangping, deputy secretary general of the FNJC said that increased exchanges between the youths of both countries, instead of 40 youth exchanges per year now, shows a deepening of friendship between the two countries.

He said that 500 young Chinese who would be sent to RC in 2004 would be divided into three groups, including the first party in early July.

Hu Wei, Vice-President FNJC, and Kim Ha-joong, the ROK Ambassador to China, have signed this agreement, as representatives of both governments.

中国/遥控：一对青年之间的交流协议

中国和大韩民国（韩国）日在这里签署了一项关于青年人之间认为，韩国政府每年邀请500名中国访问的韩国从2004年至2006年交流协议。
