The chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, Wu Bangguo, visited Russia, met Wednesday in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Wu said on this occasion that China was preparing to host the Russian leader to visit in October, a visit which will be very important to provide a new impetus to the development of Sino-Russian relations.

Expressing warm welcome to the President of the Chinese Parliament, Mr. Putin has expressed his desire to meet his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao this year. The Russian president stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with China, indicating that the two neighbors have maintained high-level cooperation in the political and economic on the world stage.

He noted that active exchanges between the legislatures of both countries played a key role in promoting bilateral relations and regional cooperation. MM.
