The plane carrying Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski crashed Thursday in a mountainous terrain in southern Bosnia, reported news agency Tanjug.

The president should have participated in an international economic conference in Sarajovo.

The plane crashed near the Stolac area, located 50 kilometers from the city of Mostar, said Tanjug, quoting the news agency of the Moslem-Croat Federation.

A Macedonian government official in Skopje, capital of Macedonia, confirmed the incident, saying that the chance of those aboard the plane remained unknown.

A spokesman for U.S. forces to peacekeeping in Bosnia said the plane carrying Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski was missing Thursday radar over southern Bosnia and Macedonia.

“According to unconfirmed information, the plane carrying a delegation of the Republic of Macedonia, led by President Boris Trajkovski, has had an accident,” said the Bosnian President Dragan Covic reporters in Mostar.
