Ecuadorian negotiators said Monday they had confirmed the strategy they will use in the final round of negotiations on free trade with the United States, which must begin in Washington on Thursday.

Manuel Chiriboga told reporters he wanted to go to Washington on Friday as head of a delegation of 80 members.

Delegates will meet again Saturday with representatives of Ecuadorian farmers who are part of the team, while the other part, “associated group”, includes representatives of other industries of Ecuador.

Mr. Chiriboga said that this round of negotiations would be different, because a group of Uruguayan could work with the “associated group” to make sure that the interests of each industry are taken into account for equity .

He added that the presence of the Ecuadorian president was essential for the conclusion of negotiations, but said that the negotiating group could call it that when everything is ready.
