Syria and Malaysia on Monday called for a complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq within a defined timetable, reported official news agency SANA.
The appeal was launched at a meeting of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who is visiting Damascus.
The two sides discussed the situatoin dangerous in Iraq, saying a political solution was the only way for the country out of crisis.
They stressed the importance of the withdrawal of foreign troops coming to Iraq in a consistent and comprehensive national reconciliation, according to SANA.
They also expressed their support for a national unity government Palestinian and stressed the need to strengthen understanding among Palestinians.
Malaysian Prime Minister arrived in Damascus Sunday for an official visit of three days in Syria, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
