Palestinian Prime Minister has no objection to talks with U.S.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Monday that the government led by Hamas had no objection to talks with the United States, a day after Haniyeh was even accused the Bush administration of trying to overthrow his government .

“We are not opposed to the opening of dialogues, even with the Americans,” Haniyeh said at a religious seminary in the city of Gaza, adding that Mahmoud Zahar, the Minister of Foreign travel would soon be visiting some Latin American countries.

However, Mr Haniyeh, who is also a senior Hamas official, reiterated the position of his motion to refuse any talks with Israel.

“The only negotiations that we have problems are those with the Israeli occupiers, and this because of the experience of fruitless talks in the past,” he said.

Sunday, Mr. Haniyeh accused the United States to work with Israel to topple the Palestinian government and trigger a civil war between rival factions.

In addition, Haneya confirmed that his government would accept a Palestinian state alongside Israel with Jerusalem as its capital, but said it would be based on a long-term truce with Israel and not on recognition of the Israel.
